Universal Parametrics, Inc. was founded in 1999 by company President, Greg Sorter and Vice President, Steve Frey to provide the highest quality design and finite analysis services. Since then, UPI has rapidly grown its staff to include over a dozen highly skilled technical experts, and have expanded to offer hardware, software and training solutions.

Greg heads Universal Parametrics' Analysis section, with a mission to provide UPI customers with rapid FEA results that correlate! Greg received a Bachelor and Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and has been involved with structural analysis since 1988.

Steve heads up Universal Parametrics' design and training department. He has utilized Pro/ENGINEER to serve clients in the furniture, automotive, heavy truck and nuclear industries since 1992. In 1998, he became a Certified Engineering Provider (CEP) for Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC) and in 2003 became an Certified Training Provider for Pro/ENGINEER.

For several years, Steve wrote a regular column for Pro/E: The Magazine called "Pro/ENGINEER In the Trenches", and served on the magazine's Editorial Advisory Board. In 2000, Steve conducted and wrote the annual Pro/E: The Benchmark edition, the most frequently referenced and valued workstation Benchmark in the Pro/ENGINEER community. Steve's articles have also been featured in PRO/files, the official magazine of PRO/user. Steve began his design career in the construction industry in 1985, using T-squares and triangles to layout industrial piping. In 1987 he was trained and certified in Advanced AutoCAD for use in the design of Waste-to-Energy incinerators. Steve also made use of AutoCAD in the Civil Engineering field for the design of municipal paving, drainage, water and sewer systems. One of Steve's AutoCAD creations (3D surface model of the Enterprise) was included in Autodesk's Image Library, and featured in several CAD industry publications, including Using AutoCAD, 2nd Edition, by Que Books. In 1991, Steve began work in the automotive industry, using Calma Prism/DDM in the design of automotive powertrain components. |
