Universal Parametrics, Inc. (UPI) to host Free Auto Worker Retraining Boot Camp and Career Fair.
The demand for skilled designers and engineers for the defense industry continues to rise, at the same time Michigan's legacy auto companies continue to downsize. To help boost Michigan's economy, and to increase the marketability of displaced auto workers, Universal Parametrics, Inc. will be hosting a Free Auto Worker Retraining Boot Camp and Career Fair, August 4-8, 2008, at its headquarters in Ann Arbor, MI.
During this week long event, select candidates will be cross trained in the leading Computer Aided Design (CAD) software called Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire. The United States government is standardized on Pro/ENGINEER, and as a result, defense contractors are as well. Pro/ENGINEER is also widely used in the agriculture, industrial, consumer and medical products industries.
"Right now, military projects are where it's at," says Universal Parametrics Vice President, Steve Frey, "but defense contractors such as BAE Systems in Sterling Heights and General Dynamics in Warren can't hire enough people fast enough, and you can't get through the front door without knowing Pro/ENGINEER first."
Space for the event is limited. To qualify for the free training, candidates must:
In addition to the training program, students will participate in discussions about trends in the design and engineering industry, and employment opportunities at Universal Parametrics.
